What not to take to university

 One of the main priorities of any student accommodation is the safety and wellbeing of all students living there. Therefore, we have outlined some of the items that you should avoid bringing with you due to their safety risk, and other items because they are already provided in your accommodation.

1. Ashtrays – most student accommodation buildings have a strict no smoking policy, so an astray won’t be needed. However, outside the buildings there are smoking areas with designated ashtrays, so you won’t have to fully leave the premises.
2. Candles – most student accommodation companies will ask students not to bring candles or incense sticks as these are a fire hazard, so we would advise you not to pack these.
3. Printer – although a printer in your bedroom may seem like a good idea, they are often bulky and take up unnecessary space. Most universities will be fully equipped with printers, so you won’t have to bring your own.
4. Hoover – A hoover is usually provided at most student halls. Students are expected to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within their accommodation.
5. Large bits of furniture – All of our rooms are kitted out with the furniture you need, so you won’t need to bring your own. You must not remove or add any large pieces of furniture or fixtures to the accommodation unit without permission.
6. Car – most student accommodation buildings have limited parking so it may be tricky to find a safe space to leave your car. There will always be ample public transport to get you to your destination, so a car is usually not needed.
